Contemporary art refers to the “art of today” since the late 1960s – the end of modern art. From pop art to photorealism, conceptualism to minimalism, performance art to installation art, earth art to street art, code-generated art to crypto art, contemporary art is continuously evolving and more artists are taking advantage of new technology to further their creativity. The use of new media and digital technology in art has opened up a new world of possibilities never imagined. Art can now look and feel more interactive and immersive than previous static work.
The course introduces you to the diverse materials, motivations and methods of artists working today. We’ll address the gap between seeing and truly understanding the artwork by introducing ideas, approaches and technologies that inform their making. We’ll also explore new technology or new media to create the artwork.
