We believe that the ability to sculpt is an inherently human trait. It is just a matter of honing it to a specific craft. We will offer step-by-step instruction emphasizing modeling, especially how to use the material, our approach, implicit assumptions, our point of view, and the progressive observation from more than one angle that occurs during the work process. Students will be introduced to sculpture principles and construction techniques. We will look at a wide variety of sculptures both for reference and inspiration. Students will then flex their new perspectives to create their masterpieces.
Grades: K-5.
Time: (Wednesdays) 1:35 pm- 2:50 pm (9 weeks, 4/10 no class spring break)
Days: (4/3, 4/17, 4/24, 5/1, 5/8, 5/15, 5/22, 5/29).
Fees (materials included): $320
