American Academy of Fine Arts provides basic sculpting skill classes for K-5 students at Clyde Hill Elementary School. Sculpture, a 3D art, lives in the world with us, sharing space in our 3D experience. In its very essence, the sculpture provides a physical platform for expressing our ideas and thoughts. It has marked our history, recording our evolving humanity with form, shape, and material.

Clay Figurine
We believe that the ability to sculpt is an inherently human trait. It is just a matter of honing it to a specific craft. We will offer step-by-step instruction with an emphasis on modeling, especially how to use the material, our approach, tacit assumptions, our point of view, and the progressive observation from more than one angle that occurs during the work process. Students will be introduced to sculpture principles and construction techniques. We will look at a wide variety of sculptures both for reference and inspiration. Students will then flex their new perspectives to create their masterpieces.
Grades: K-5.
(Thursdays) 2:30 pm-4 pm ( 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15 (2/22 no class ), 2/29, 3/7, 3/14, 3/21).
Fees (materials included): $400
Note: Seats are limited. First come first serve. If needed, we will add art classes in the next term. Thanks.
